Community meeting #3

On February 21, 2025, a final community meeting was held in Jelgava, bringing together young people and representatives of support organizations to jointly evaluate what has been achieved so far and determine the next steps. The goal of the meeting was to summarize experience and suggestions, as well as continue to develop cooperation in order to provide effective support to young people.

The “LINK” project is coming to an end. During its implementation, several community meetings have been held, where young people and representatives of various organizations met to address various situations and discuss possible solutions, listening to both sides. The main goal of the community meetings is to strengthen mutual support and introduce the services offered to young people in the city and region of Jelgava.

This final event also addressed important issues, including a collaborative resource map that will help unify resources and support for young people. Results and changes that have occurred so far and what still needs to be improved were discussed.

The event was attended by representatives from various organizations that provide support to young people in the city and region of Jelgava, as well as 10 young people from local schools, to actively participate and learn more about opportunities to implement their ideas and solve current problems.

The task of the Latvian team of the LINK project was to create a safe and creative environment that encourages the development and implementation of new ideas or approaches aimed at promoting change in local society, especially improving cooperation between young people and those who support young people.
By implementing the learning and innovation laboratory model, participants learned skills in community meetings to collaborate cohesively between specialists and institutions, building a community in support of young people.
At the final community meeting, we mapped the collaboration network again and worked on ideas for future collaboration between support persons "step by step".
Representatives of the organizations came up with two ideas:
  • Cycle of events for young people "Meeting with a specialist", the first event is planned for March or April 2025. The first planning session took place on March 6, 2025.
  • Civic Participation Forum supports individuals working with youth, event scheduled for January 9, 2026.

Please contact the LINK team if you are interested in participating in these events!

At the final community meeting, young people worked on developing the idea of a "Resource Market" - an event where youth support individuals and organizations will meet to interactively reflect the types of services available to young people in the city of Jelgava and Jelgava region. The planned date of the event is April 25, 2025.
